IHM Jr. High Youth Ministry Scoop!

SHINE

Jr. High Youth Group – 6th, 7th & 8th gr. takes place the first three Monday’s of each month with a topic and theme.  We play wild and crazy games, talk about faith and pray.  We meet in the youth room from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  You are welcome to bring your friends!

THE GATHERING!

Takes place every Wednesday after school from 4 – 6 p.m. in the youth room.  Come and hang out, watch a movie, play pool, foosball, and boccerball, have a pop and meet your friends. During Lent there will be CATHOLIC QUESTIONS 101 from 5:30 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday. If your do not want to stay for this you will need to be picked up at 5:30 p.m.

CARWASH SATURDAY, June 7

There will be a carwash for IHM youth ministry on Saturday, June 7 for all interested Jr. High to High School youth who are interested in helping.  The carwash will take place at Bauer’s Texaco at the corner of Baker Road and Excelsior Blvd. Carwash begins at 9:00 a.m. and finishes at 3:00 p.m.  Funds raised from the carwash will help with the service opportunities in IHM youth ministry!

SMORE’S CAMPING RETREAT!

Calling all 6th, 7th & 8th graders!  It is time to go camping and prepare for the beginning of summer. We will be going camping at Baker’s Park Preserve June 17, 18 & 19.  Space is limited to the first 15 youth who sign-up!  Cost is only $40 per person.  You will need to bring with you sleeping bag, pillow, (sleeping mat if you have one) personal items, changes of clothes, towel, swimsuit, bible & notebook, bicycle, helmet and fishing rods if you want.  There will be showers for us to use.  Parents are asked to drop their daughter or son off at Oak Knoll Group Camping area at 3:30 p.m. Youth will need to be picked up at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19.

SUMMER GATHERINGS!                                 sunjam02  

The summer GATHERINGS will take place on the following Wednesday’s June 25, July 30 and August 13 at Junction Park!  The GATHERINGS are a time for SUMMER FUN. Time will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each day. The evening includes supper and fun! The cost is only $5 per person for dinner and an evening of summer fun! The July 30 GATHERING – will be open to the entire family at Junction Park. The GATHERINGS are open for Jr. High thru High School!

 

“HAND’S of Christ Summer Service Project!handfeet02

All 6th, 7th & 8th graders are welcome to participate!

Space is limited to the first 20 youth who register!

June 10 & 24, July 8 & 22 and August 5
“HAND’S - Summer service project is centered on doing service work in the morning at different agencies around the Twin Cities and surrounding communities.  We will be ministering at such locations such as Feed My Starving Children, Goodwill, People Serving People, Villa Maria, and our own parish. In the afternoon we will have fun at places such as Grand Slam, swimming, Bunker Hill Wave Pool, movie etc… Cost for this activity is $125 & includes transportation, t-shirt, entrance fees for afternoon activities, snacks and Wild Mountain. Times will generally be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Parents and adults are needed to volunteer to make this program a success. You are needed to help drive and volunteer at service sites.  You are also welcome to the afternoon activities. Give Brian a call at 952-935-7077 or email him at b.hefer@ihmcs.org

Deadline to register is Friday, April 25!  You need to turn in your non-refundable $50 deposit, and
permission slip.  Tell your friends and encourage them to join this awesome opportunity.

VALLEYFAIR TIME!

Cost is $30. Cost includes admission to Valley Fair & bus.  Permission slip needs to be with payment. Adults are needed to help chaperone!

July 21 – July 25, 2008

Summer Festival is a 5 –day break with God featuring exhilarating activities designed to help you make great friends, have a blast and walk a little closer to Jesus.  There’s TONS to choose from to make your 5 days complete!

Calling All 6th, 7th & 8th graders!  Meet terrific people from all over the Minnesota! Talk about real issues, like dating, drugs, family, friends, and self-esteem, making choices and your relationship with THE BIG GUY! Play incredible, out-of-control games. Laugh unbelievably hard.  Rest and then laugh again!

Information flyers are in the youth ministry rack and the week that we will be going is July 21 – July 25 at University Wisconsin Stout in Menominee, WI.  Cost is $315 and includes deluxe accommodations and food. Two permission slips (Summerfest form & 2008 JHReg form) and Stout health are required. Click the links to print the forms.

Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Early bird cost is $30 if you pay before July 21 and after July 21 is $38. Time is from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Be sure to wear swim wear, bring change of clothes and snacks or a lunch we will cook supper in Interstate Park and play our annual wiffle ball game.
